As some of the English medium schools have collaborated together to start an initiative for the less fortunate people in Jamshedpur. Our School KPS, Burmamines has joined hands with them.
As a part of this initiative, every week on Thursday our students bring two chapattis (rotis) wrapped in foil. These chapattis are collected from our school and distributed to a large number of the poorest of the poor, who often go hungry on account of their poverty.

The Interact Club of K.P.S Burmamines organized a health-checkup camp on 4th Dec’18. A team of 9 Doctors from Pariwar Kalyan Sansthan, visited the school. Dr. Y Shailaja explained the importance of health &hygiene to the under privileged students. A total of 123 students of Project School participated in the camp. Doctors did the overall physical, eye& BMI checkup. Most of the students were found to have iron deficiency; hence they were given iron capsules as supplements. During this program the Principal Mrs. Harwinder Kaur, Vice Principal Mrs. Barnali Chatterjee, Interact Club incharges teacher Nupur & Suman Sir and the Project School teachers were present.

 

As a part of ‘International Interact Week’ the Interact club members of KPS Burmamines visited Leprosy Hospital on 17th November’18. They met Dr Rajeev and discussed about symptoms and precautions of Leprosy. Students interacted with the patients and it was a life changing experience for everyone present there. Wollen clothes and food items were distributed to the patients. They were very happy with this visit &showered their blessings.

DAY 2 – Heart Day Rally

An Awareness program was conducted on 25th Aug’18 at Upgraded High School (Government aided) about menstruation hygiene by the students of Interact club. More than 80 girl students attended the session. Members of Interact club presented NukkadNatak. The theme was about the hygiene measures that girls need to follow during their menstruation.The whole program was done under the guidance of Suman Sarkar Sir, NupurTr, &Ghausia Tr.

 

The National Deworming Day is a day to treat intestinal worm infections in all children aged 1-19years. As a part of observing the national deworming day on 10th Aug’18, the team of Scouts & Guides carried out the initiative of giving tablets to children. More than 300 children were given the medicine. The team carried out a rally in the nearby areas with banners and posters. The teachers and students spoke to the people about the importance of Deworming. The whole program was conducted under the guidance of Binod Sir, Rita Singh Tr & Bibha Tr.

Inter KPS Basketball Tournament was scheduled at KPS Burmamines from 3rd Aug to 8th Aug’18.

The Road Safety Week was observed in the school to focus attention on the importance of observing traffic rules in order to prevent accidents on the roads which take away thousands of precious lives every year across India. Scouts & Guides team of our school organized an event on 17th July’18 on Road Safety. Children presented song, dance and displayed safety rules to draw attention towards the Road Safety. The program was graced by the Chief Guest Mr. Vivekanad Thakur (Traffic D.S.P & Nodal Officer Road Safety). The other dignitaries present were the Guest of Honor Mr. Naresh Kumar (D.O.C Bharat Scouts & Guides), Director Dr. Srikant Nair & Dr. Rachna Nair & Principal Mrs. Harwinder Kaur. During the event information about the SMARTHAK club was shared with all. The main objective behind the formation of the club is to ensure that all the school drivers follow Road Safety rules. Emphasis was laid on using helmets, seat belts, etc.
Scouts & Guides helped us to make this event a great success.

Mother is the most lovable and adorable person. No love can exceed or even match the love of a mother for her child. She has been blessed with the power to nurture a complete life in her womb with intense love and care. She is the best trainer and guide of her child, always the first person whom we think of in our happy and not so happy times. So keeping all these in mind on 12thJuly’18 an appealing function was organized to inaugurate Mother’s Club in the school premises. The Principal Mrs. Harwinder Kaur addressed the gathering and told that the club activities help us to be more creative and innovative. The kids also expressed their love for their mother’s by presenting different songs and dance. The event was well organized with the help of all Pre-Primary teachers.

 

On the occasion of the Anti – Tobacco Day (28.6.18), the students of Eco Club and Interact Club of K.P.S Burmamines organized a rally to create awareness against Tobacco intake. The Principal Mrs. Harwinder Kaur, Vice Principal Mrs. Barnali Chatterjee & Ms. Manjula Kumari flagged off the rally from school. The rally started from school to Tata Nagar station. The whole program was guided by Ms. Archana, Ms. Shomaila and the incharges of Eco & Interact Club Mr. Suman Sarkar & Ms. Nupur.

 

In the light of the INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY which was initiated, pioneered, emphasized and advocated by Honorable Prime Minister of India Sri Narendra Modiji our school celebrated “WORLD YOGA DAY” on 21st June,2018.
The Principal discussed on the importance of Yoga. She reckoned many benefits of early rising and practicing yoga. Speaking to the assembly she also pointed out the contribution of yoga in maintaining fitness and good health and how it helps students to memorize something and understand a concept and its context. She said that yoga is the scientific way of living healthy and increasing life expectancy. It strengthens the immune system and does internal cleansing of blood, body parts, body systems, organs, veins & arteries. It brings a divine glow on the face and makes us wise. Scouts & Guide contributed to make the event successful.

On 9th June’18 at KPS – Burmamines Rotary Club of Jamshedpur conducted Adult Literacy Awareness program under its banner of “Jagriti Project”. The program was graced by Dr. Anita Gupta (Ex Rotary Club President). Other dignitaries present were Dr.Varsha Chand (President of Rotary Club), Director Dr. Srikant Nair &Dr. Rachna Nair& Principal Mrs. Harwinder Kaur.The program aims at eradicating illiteracy among adults &creating awareness in helping them overcome their helplessness and to achieve self-reliance. Under the project 20 females from nearby areas were enrolled for the program. One of the school teacher Mrs. Ujjaini Das is assigned the role of educating these females. Mr Suman Sarkar has been a great support to run the “Jagriti Project”.

EARTH DAY – It was celebrated in the school premises on 2nd of May,18. The Students of ECO Club presented a skit showcasing the environmental concern and how can we together make our Earth clean and green. Taking the opportunity of this day , Principal Mrs Harwinder Kaur and Vice –Principal Mrs Barnali Chatterjee together planted a sapling to initiate this noble practice in the school .

 

A blood donation camp was held on 7th April’18 in the school premises supported by VBDA. More than 52 units of Blood were collected. The President of the organization, Mr. Pradeep Ghoshal, conducted a workshop prior to this on 5th April’18. Students of Std. IX & X attended the workshop and learnt the importance of Blood Donation. A rally was conducted by the students of Std VII & VIII to spread the awareness about the importance of Blood Donation in the local community. We appreciate the efforts of the teachers, students and special thanks to the team members of Scouts & Guides.

1st Day of Nursery School (14th March’18): A New Year, new beginning and new session for the Nursery school. The toddlers were welcomed warmly by all the teachers. A special entrance was made for the tiny kids from where they were taken to the selfie corner for a Perfect Picture.
