May Day (1-5-2023)

 

Labour Day also known as May Day or International Workers Day is marked every year on 1st May. It aims to encourage the working class to be conscious of their rights. Labour Day also recognises and honours the contribution of workers across the world.

Workers have significantly contributed to nation-building through immense hard work. Labour Day not only aims to recognise workers’ hard work but also to educate them about their rights and save them from being exploited. It is also geared towards inspiring efforts to provide better working conditions to labour and help them make progress.

International Dance Day (29-4-2023)

International Dance Day is marked on April 29 to celebrate the art form. The day aims to raise awareness about the benefits of dance. Dance can be a powerful tool to express yourself or just a way to enjoy. It can also serve as a physical exercise or therapy. International Dance Day highlights these qualities of dance and encourages people to celebrate it

 

 

 

World Creativity and Innovation Day (21-4-2023)

“Hydroponics” – A Creative and Innovative way of growing plants without soil.

The soil itself is not really needed by the plants – just the nutrients and water in it. So if the nutrients are put in water, the plants can get what they need to grow without the soil. Hydroponic is a technique of growing plants using solutions rich in mineral nutrients without soil.

Information regarding this creative and innovative method of growing plants was given to the children. Coriander, fenugreek and mustard seeds were used as samples.

 

 

Earth Day  (21-4-2023)

 

Theme : Invest in Our Planet

World Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22nd every year to raise awareness about environmental issues and promote global efforts to protect the Earth’s natural resources. The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970, and since then it has become a global movement with millions of people participating in various events, activities and campaigns to show their support for environmental protection and sustainability.

Tree plantation/watering of plants was done and information was given to the children regarding the importance of this day and regarding protection of green cover of the Earth.
Information regarding various medicinal plants and their uses was also given so that children are aware of the natural remedies that Mother Earth has provided us so that we avoid using artificial products and thus our planet can be saved from many harmful chemicals and effects. The medicinal plants used were that of Curry, Aloevera, Indian Tulsi, Chinese Tulsi and Carom seed.
Proper handwashing technique was also taught to the children which helps in saving water and its proper utilisation and ultimately saving the Earth and its valuable resouces.

It is the need of the hour !

International Day for Monuments and Sites (World Heritage Day) (18-4-2023)

 

Information regarding the importance of this day was given to the children through smart classes. The purpose of celebrating this day is to encourage students to recognize the value of the cultural heritage in their lives and awareness of the importance of historical and cultural sites and the possible threats to their existence and their conservation.

Vishu Celebration (14-4-2023)

One of the most popular harvest festivals in Kerala, Vishu represents the onset of spring as well as the Malyalam New Year.

Vishu indicates the movement of the sun to Aries or the Mesha Rashi and marks the day from which the farmers begin the ploughing of land and other agricultural activities.

In Sanskrit Vishu means equal, which implies the day with equal number hours of day and night or the equinox. The day of Mesha Sankranti or Mesha Sankramam, Vishu is a family festival. It is a period dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is celebrated by worshipping Lord Vishnu and Lord Krishna. Vishu Kani, Vishu Kaineettam and Vishubhalam are the three most important aspects of the Vishu celebrations.
