On 14th June 1999 Tata steel decided to outsource some of its schools and so the “Tatanagar Primary School” was handed over to Kerala Public School Trust with a total number of 221 students. In that campus of 2 acres with a single storey building having nine rooms was the humble beginning of Kerala Public School, Burmamines. The School was inaugurated by Mr. A.N.Singh, the then Vice President of Tata Steel. As per our agreement with Tata Steel we decided to opt for the CBSE stream.
We retained the Hindi medium that was already running there and started English medium with Nursery and LKG classes on 20th March 2000. In the same year we laid foundation for a new block of 20 rooms. The building got completed in 2003. The school was expanding fast and more rooms were required so we started construction of the 2nd Block of another 20 rooms. A well equipped library, Science labs and computer lab came up in this building.
The School was affiliated to CBSE in 2006 and our first batch consisting 93 students of Hindi medium appeared for the Board examination in 2007. A 3rd Block of 10 rooms and a multipurpose hall was constructed in 2011. Today Kerala Public School, Burmamines stands tall in name and fame with an impressive infrastructure. 8 batches of students have passed out of the school, the number increasing year after year. Presently we cater to 3200 students in our Hindi and English medium sections. Keeping in mind the requirement of our stakeholders to start Plus 2 in our school, we are gearing up for the same.
